Your questions answered
How do I go about adding or removing names to or from my mortgage account?
To add or remove a name(s) on your mortgage account you will need to complete a Transfer of Equity. Please call our Mortgage Specialists on 0845 300 8000* or email us at mortgagesdirectacquisitions@boipluk.co.uk for further information. They'll be able to guide you through what is required and sort everything out for you. Please note as this is a legal process timescales may vary.
My partner/spouse has moved out of the property, can we add a second address?
If your mortgage account is in joint names but not all parties live at the property you can set up dual mailing. This ensures that each of you receives a copy of important documents. Fees apply, please see our Guide to Standard Mortgage Charges (PDF).
How do I set up/remove dual mailing on my mortgage account?
Simply put your request in writing to the Mortgage Customer Services Department, Bank of Ireland, PO Box 27, 1 Temple Quay, Bristol, BS99 7AX. As both parties are entitled to all mortgage information only one signature is required.
What documents will all parties receive?
Once dual mailing has been set up on a mortgage account, both parties will receive automated statements, rate change notices, loan review letters, annual mortgage statements and any notification of arrears.
What if my bank details change?
Please request a Direct Debit form by calling us on 0845 300 8000*. Once you have received the Direct Debit form, please complete it with your new details and send it back to us at the address shown on the form.
Deeds
Once I've paid off my mortgage, can the deeds be kept by Bank of Ireland?
No, we don't offer a storage facility once your mortgage redeems with us.
Payments
What's the difference between a Standing Order and a Direct Debit?
A Direct Debit is a fully automated process, which we control, while Standing Orders are controlled by your bank, according to your instructions. A Direct Debit collects the exact amount required each month, even if your payment varies. Under the Direct Debit Scheme we must give you notice to amend your Direct Debit payments. A Standing Order, on the other hand, will need you to authorise your bank to make the change to your payment.
Can I increase my monthly mortgage payment?
This is called overpaying, and you can make a regular monthly overpayment if your mortgage is held on a repayment basis and you are not tied into a promotional period. Please click here to find out more.
Statements
Can I get copies of annual mortgage statements from previous years?
Yes, however an administration fee applies, please see our Guide to Standard Mortgage Charges (PDF).
I paid off my mortgage this year, will I still receive an annual mortgage statement?
You/your solicitor will have received a redemption statement to show the amount required (including the mortgage balance, interest and fees/charges) to pay off your mortgage in full. However, if you require a statement from the beginning of the financial year up to the date that your mortgage was fully repaid, this can be issued free of charge up to 12 months following redemption of your account. After this time a fee is applicable, please see our Guide to Standard Mortgage Charges (PDF).
Can I get a redemption quote over the telephone?
No, we can only provide statements in writing. Please call Mortgage Customer Services Department on 0845 300 8000* (Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm) or email us at mortgage.services@boipluk.co.uk to request a statement.
